AI-powered journalism startup Symbolic.ai has signed a partnership with News Corp, the global media company controlled by Rupert Murdoch, to deploy artificial intelligence tools in its newsrooms.
Under the agreement, News Corp will use Symbolic.ai’s AI publishing and research platform to support news production. The rollout will begin with Dow Jones Newswires, News Corp’s real-time financial and business news service.
Scope of the Partnership
Symbolic.ai’s platform is designed to assist journalists by automating time-consuming newsroom tasks. The AI tools will help with research and document analysis transcription of interviews and earnings calls, extracting information from large datasets, fact-checking support and newsletter creation and headline optimization.
News Corp said the technology is intended to support journalists, not replace them, by improving speed accuracy and efficiency in reporting.
The partnership represents a significant step in integrating AI into mainstream newsrooms. While media companies have experimented with AI tools in the past, this agreement marks a deeper adoption of AI in daily editorial workflows at one of the world’s largest media groups.
Industry observers say the deal reflects growing pressure on news organizations to adopt technology capable of handling repetitive tasks, allowing reporters to focus more on analysis and investigative journalism.
News Corp has actively explored artificial intelligence across its businesses, including previous AI partnerships and content-licensing agreements, as it adapts to rapid changes in digital media.
This latest move shifts the focus from content licensing to operational use of AI inside newsrooms, signaling how major media companies may increasingly rely on AI tools to boost productivity.
Symbolic.ai builds journalism-focused AI tools for news organizations and claims its platform can significantly reduce time spent on research-heavy reporting while maintaining editorial standards.
The deployment at Dow Jones Newswires may expand to other News Corp publications if the initial rollout is successful. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
The partnership highlights how AI is becoming a core part of modern journalism even as media organizations continue to emphasize human editorial judgment.
